Westlake for Wishes is a club at Westlake High School which strives to engage our local and the greater Austin community in raising awareness of Make-A-Wish’s mission. Our goal is to give hope and grant life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses. We hope that we can spread the joy of a wish and show how each wish changes a child’s life for the better.
Westlake for Wishes knows firsthand the power of a wish. One of our co-founders, Sam Benesch (now graduated) had his wish granted when he was 5 years old to walk on the beach with Mickey Mouse. Sam and his family have been a part of the Make-A-Wish family since then and are active volunteers within the organization. Meanwhile, Hunter Samra, one of our other recently graduated Westlake for Wishes members got his wish granted in February 2020 to have a grand piano.
To date since Westlake for Wishes induction in October 2019, we have raised over $67,000 for Make-A-Wish Central & South of Texas with 100% of all donations and proceeds going directly to the chapter. So far during this 2021-2022 school year, we have raised $12,000!
This year, Westlake for Wishes has undertaken the pleasure and responsibility of sponsoring another wish. In doing so we set a goal to raise another $7,500+ to make a child’s life shine brighter.
