I am really proud to support Make-A-Wish and their work in our community. Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. A wish gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together and unites communities.
I speak from personal experience. When Jessie fell sick with HLH 15+ years ago I had to tell Jessie's 5 siblings that Jessie might not come home. The math was against her, HLH is a tough disease to fight. As Jessie fought with the help and love of those around her, a nurse submitted Jessie for a wish.
A wish was granted! That trip, and Jessie's illness, brought a blended family into one family. Her half siblings are simply siblings. Her brother and sisters each took something away through all of this. The wish granted to Jessie gave something to everyone.
Today Jessie is young woman. A senior in high-school, honor roll student, and applying for colleges thinking about law-school or architecture.
My wish was granted all those years ago when I was given one more day with Jessie, and then one more, and then one more.
