Why We Hike
This year alone, 800 Michigan children are expected to be nearly diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, anxiety with excitement and sadness with optimism. Wishes give children renewed energy and strength, bring families closer together and unite communities.
Since 1984, Make-A-Wish Michigan has granted more than 10,500 wishes for Michigan kids. This year, we expect to grant 400 wishes to local kids with the help of more than 500 volunteers across the state.
