I'm raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. No matter the circumstances, every child deserves a childhood. Life-changing wishes wouldn't happen without the power of donors like you. Your support gives children much-needed hope for brighter days ahead.
For 40 years, Make-A-Wish has brought transformational wishes to more than 330,000 children and families. But we're not done yet.
Your donation today will help make every wish come true. Together, we can continue to be a light of hope throughout this time of crisis - and beyond.
At the age of 14, my sweet daughter Angie was told that after more than a dozen operations on her heart she was going to need a heart transplant. A few months later she received a call from the Make-A-Wish Foundation telling her that they wanted to grant her a wish. Her wish was to go to Walt Disney World. While in the hospital as a child she would love to watch Disney movies. Dreams come true in Disney movies, and characters overcome hardships and trials, and there are happy endings! And so she was granted her wish. We stayed at the Kids Village in Kissimmee Florida and she had an amazing magical time at Walt Disney World, Epcot, Disney MGM Studios, Sea World, and even got to touch the ocean for the first time at Cocoa Beach Florida. When we returned from our trip the cardiologists said her heart had improved. We truly believed the magic of her wish, the laughter, and the joy from her trip to Florida was the reason her heart health improved.
The magical trip remained with her for the rest of her life. When Angie was married in 2004, she went to Disney with her husband for her honeymoon so that he could relive the joy she had found there at 14. I am sad to say that Angie passed away at 23, just a few months after her honeymoon. We were forever grateful to Make-A-Wish for allowing her to enjoy her trip there and to be allowed to be a child and immerse herself in the joys of Disney for that week trip!
I became a wishgranter for Make-A-Wish the year after Angie passed away. I was fortunate enough to grant many wishes for other children living with life-threatening illnesses, and to see the joy that a wish brought to each and every one of them. By creating this fundraiser I hope to raise enough to grant a wish to another child just like Angie!
Thank you for your support!
