Make-A-Wish is an organization close to many of our employee's hearts. One of our employees, Maddie, is a wish sister. Her sister, Savannah, received her wish to go to Disney World in 2008. 

Savannah was a vibrant child with a bright smile. She loved her family and friends and especially school. Along with down syndrome she had multiple heart surgeries in her life. In 2007, Savannah had head surgery to relieve pressure caused by a stroke from Moya Moya disease. With all odds that she would not make it through the night, Savannah strongly pushed through and was able to have her wish granted in 2008 to go to Disney World! Friends and family gathered at Make-A-Wish Utah to honor her as her wish was granted and watched her raise her star. Savannah was known for her love for Disney movies, especially the ones she could sing along to. Learning how to walk again could not stop her from dancing with the princesses or Mickey Mouse during the Disney World parades. Despite all the hardships she had to overcome, you wouldn't be able to tell from the smile across her face when she walked through the Disney World gates. Her family recalls it being an amazing and impactful experience for their little girl to have her wish come true. 

When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope. The majority of wish kids go on to beat their critical illnesses, and research shows that a wish can help children build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight – giving them a better chance of surviving and thriving.
