On January 30th, 2022, despite strong winds and cold temperatures, I was part of a community that turned out to support Bennett, a child who by the age of 5 had already had 4 invasive heart surgeries. Bennett wished to "be a police officer and catch thieves" and Make-A-Wish made that happen. I watched as Officer Bennett chased down a robber and saved the day. Later, Mauldin's mayor gave him the key to the city.
A year later, I found myself dressing up as Snow White and working to host a celebration and send-off party for Stephanie, a 10-year old child battling leukemia. She wished to go to Walt Disney World and again Make-A-Wish made it happen.
This year as an honoree for the 2024 W.I.S.H. Society, I've accepted the challenge to raise $7,500 - the average cost of a wish.
A wish plays a vital role in a child's treatment, serves as encouragement to the family during the child's difficult medical journey, and provides a source of inspiration for thousands of others. A wish turns fear into courage, worry into hope and it recharges the fighting spirit in children. Just as medicine can heal the body, a wish experience can heal the spirit.
Please consider joining me in making wishes come true! Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your support! Together, we can make wishes come true!
