Dear friends, family and community members,
My name is Tobias, an 8-year-old from Vancouver, and I am a 2025 Make-A-Wish Oregon Wish Ambassador!
As a Wish Ambassador, it is my job to spread the life-changing hope, strength and joy that a wish provides to other local kids and families.
I want to help restore some of the magic and wonder to the childhood of other wish kids, like me.
During the time I found out I would receive a wish, I was constantly in my own world of magic. I liked to cast spells and write my own books about wizards and monsters. My mom says imaginative play has been such an important escape as I battle congenital heart disease. She says being able to immerse myself in an imaginative world is truly magical. That’s why my wish was to visit Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando and see the Walt Disney World® Resort.
My wish granters told me I was headed to Orlando by giving me a giant Harry Potter cupcake. I was very happy and excited! The entire trip was filled with unforgettable memories, like getting to select my very own wizard wand and cast spells around Harry Potter World. I also learned how much I love roller coasters and immersive rides!
Even today, my wish gives me something happy to think about through all my medical procedures and doctor’s visit. It’s so healing to be able to reflect on the trip and have those magical moments to propel my family forward.
Wishes are important because they are fun and sick kids deserve fun! So much of our childhood can be lost to appointments and procedures. A wish can make us the star of our own story and help relieve some of the burden we have to carry.
Today, I’m asking you to help return the magic and wonder of childhood to kids like me, who are battling a critical illness like cancer or heart disease and deserve to dream big and feel the happiness a wish can bring.
