Dear friends, family and community members,
My name is Emilian. I’m a 9-year-old from Vancouver and I’m a 2024 Make-A-Wish Oregon Wish Ambassador!
As a Wish Ambassador, it’s my job to spread the life-changing hope, strength and joy that a wish provides to other local kids and families. I want to share my experience with others and show generous supporters like you how your donation can truly change lives, like it did for me.
When I found out my wish to go to Hawaii was coming true, it was hard to believe it was actually happening! I couldn’t wait to pack my bags, fly on a big airplane, swim and encounter dolphins, and make new memories with my family. We encountered so many kind people throughout the wish, like the flight attendant who let me sit in the cockpit, the restaurant host who saw my “wish kid” pin and paid for our breakfast, the shop clerk who gave me a shell to open that had a rare pink pearl inside and the other wish families we’ve since become great friends with.
During our final day in Hawaii, we experienced an incredible luau. I kept seeing happy tears in my mama’s eyes as she watched me and my sister dancing and laughing. It felt so good to be together, so worry free and relaxed, and filled with unexplainable joy and gratitude. It was as if just for a moment, we could forget that congenital heart defect is a part of our daily lives.
My wish gave me something to look forward to amid my many ongoing procedures and health challenges. Wishes are important because they help families heal together from the traumatic events they endured. It’s not just me going through it. Every member of my family has been impacted in a major way, too. Knowing I would be able to make more happy memories with my family really helped me get through those tough days.
Today, I’m asking you to support me in helping grant wishes for other children, who will also feel the impact for a lifetime.
