My name is Asher. I’m a 4-year-old from Hillsboro and I’m a 2024 Make-A-Wish Oregon Wish Ambassador!
As a Wish Ambassador, it’s my job to spread the life-changing hope, strength and joy that a wish provides to other local kids and families. My wish was to meet Mickey Mouse, because watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse helped me through some of the hardest times during chemotherapy.
When I headed off to Florida for that special meeting, my family had a chance to forget everything for just a bit and enjoy time together as a family; something we had not done for over a year due to treatment. I had spent so much time in a different room away from my brothers during leukemia treatment, but during my wish, I was able to make up for lost time and have the most fun playing with them.
The moment my parents watched me hug Mickey, they realized how blessed it is to be “normal” like everyone else, but that there would one day be an end to treatment. That’s why wishes are important. During my wish I was not seen as a cancer patient, but a kid being a kid.
Today, I’m asking you to support me and donate to my page to help grant wishes for other local children, who will feel the impact for a lifetime.
My parents say, “A wish is like the light at the end of a foggy tunnel. Although we are not out of the tunnel yet, it clears the fog and the exit becomes clear. We just need to keep walking. Even after the wish trip, we have been brought closer to our community, and they will continue to bear us through.”
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Wish Ambassador Asher
