Welcome to my donation page! My name is Daleigh Corlee and I am hosting a fundraiser for our local chapter of Make-a-Wish for my senior project. I love working out here and I know you do too. So I am asking my fellow enthusiasts to join in my mission.
When I was 5 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, B Cell. I spent months upon months in the hospital, undergoing chemotherapy, surgeries, and procedures. My case worker had mentioned being eligible for a Wish but my health wouldn't allow it quite yet.
About a year or two into treatment, my health was finally stable enough to have my wish come true, a trip to Walt Disney World with my parents. Make-A-Wish made my wish come true. They stopped by to let us know that they were going to grant my wish that summer. In June 2012, a limo came to pick us up and we were off! I had the time of my life and could finally escape all the treatments back home. But it's not my wish that matters, it's a wish that was never granted that is so much more important.
Make-a-Wish relies on donations and the generosity of others to make Wishes come true every day. 99% of doctors say wishes help relieve a family of traumatic stress. 87% of alumni say their wish was a turning point in their treatment - it surely was for me. (source wish.org)
Every day, more than 70 children are diagnosed with a critical illness, and many may never get a chance to get a wish. A donation may not save the world or find a cure for cancer, but it will make a kid so much happier and impact a child's life forever.
So as you can see, Make-a-Wish is a charity I truly hold dear to my heart. I invite you to please consider helping me grant more wishes.
Thank you, Daleigh Corlee, 2012 Make-a-Wish Alumni. Diagnosed 2010 and cancer-free since 2014. God Bless
