My name is Rachel Risko and I am proud to represent Make-A-Wish North Texas! I became very ill in 2015 and was hospitalized in Dallas for 2 months and faced a 2 year recovery process. I was a healthy child who suddenly faced a life-threatening illness and I had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, write, and live a normal life again. When I received my wish, it gave me the hope I needed to recover and dream again for a brighter future. My wish showed me that people, most I had never even met, really cared about me!!
I have become a Make-A-Wish ambassador and speak at events promoting this amazing organization. I am now a senior in high school, I am in a early college high school program, I play the saxophone in the band, and I am involved in Young Life and church. I want to attend college to become an art or special education teacher and I am also interested in becoming a children's minister. I have met so many amazing people and children through Make-A-Wish and I hope to pay it forward through this fundraising event.
I'm raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant wishes for children like me facing critical illnesses. No matter the circumstances, every child deserves a childhood. Life-changing wishes wouldn't happen without the power of donors like you. Your support gives children much-needed hope for brighter days ahead. For 40 years, Make-A-Wish has brought transformational wishes to more than 330,000 children and families. But we're not done yet! Your donation today, no matter how big or small, will help make every wish come true. Together, we can continue to be a light of hope throughout this time of crisis - and beyond.
Thank you for your support!
