When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope. The majority of wish kids go on to beat their critical illnesses, and research shows that a wish can help children build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight – giving them a better chance of surviving and thriving.
Every day, more than seventy children are diagnosed with a critical illness. My sister was one of them. Kayla was diagnosed with epilepsy and a mitochondrial disorder at only three years of age. Though she was wheelchair bound and nonverbal, there were very few times you could find her without a smile. At the age of sixteen, Kayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Unfortunately, Kayla met her demise only a few months after her diagnosis had been made. Children like Kayla count on donors like us to help make their wish come true. Please join me in making the dreams of these deserving children become a reality.
