On September 21st, I'll be stepping into the ring for my retirement Muay Thai exhibition fight. This isn't just any fight – it's a fight for hope, for joy, and for the dreams of children facing critical illnesses.
The Fight
For three intense rounds, I'll be facing an opponent who will be trying their best to:
- Land punches to my stomach
- Connect elbows with my face
- Deliver kicks to my calves
There will likely be blood (mine) and most certainly tears (again, mine). But every drop, every bruise, every moment of discomfort will be worth it for the cause we're fighting for.
The Cause: Make-A-Wish (Mid-Atlantic)
Last year, through your incredible generosity, we raised $4,000 for Make-A-Wish (Mid-Atlantic). This year, we're aiming higher – our goal is to reach $10,000 in total donations.
Why is this so important? Consider these sobering facts:
- Every 20 minutes, a family receives the devastating news that their child has been diagnosed with a critical illness.
- 80% of these families will experience traumatic stress.
But there's hope. Make-A-Wish doesn't just grant wishes; it transforms lives:

- 79% of adult former wish kids say their wish marked a turning point in their treatment and recovery.
