One of the additional items provided to both my wish kid and her sister who later donated her bone marrow for a transplant was princess makeovers at Bippity-Boppity Boutique. My wish kid chose to be her favorite princess, Rapunzel. While walking around the park that day, we saw another girl with a crocheted Rapunzel hat and I realized that I could make one for my daughter. Since then, I have expanded to making several princesses.
When I first told my daughter that she was going to lose her hair, she responded by telling me, "Well, it's a good thing I have my Rapunzel wig." So in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September as well as Blood Cancer and Leukemia Awareness month, I'm doing a combination fundraiser/donation. I'm looking for support to Make-a-Wish through this fundraiser. When you make a donation, please let me know if you are interested in purchasing a wig/hat/headband or donating one. If you wish to buy one, they are available for local pick up in either Hamburg or Ellicottville. We can arrange details through private messages. (I apologize I'm not ready to deal with shipping.) Otherwise, I will donate one of these to O'Shei Children's Hospital or Roswell Park Cancer Institute to children with cancer.
I have already made a donation and will be providing an Ariel wig to a sweet little girl my daughter met, and they shared a conversation about how they both will be losing their hair. Now she has at least one option to wear.
For 40 years, Make-A-Wish has brought transformational wishes to more than 330,000 children and families. But we're not done yet.
Your donation today will help make every wish come true. Together, we can continue to be a light of hope throughout this time of crisis - and beyond.
Thank you for your support!
