Cans for Wishes was founded in 2020 in response to an anticipated loss in revenue for Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Long-time volunteer, Diana Blood, refused to stand by and watch as a threat to children receiving their wishes unfolded. She started Cans for Wishes with the intent to collect aluminum cans to raise money to grant wishes for the Erie Region. Her goal was to raise $500. As of January 2023, the group has raised over $104,000! The group has expanded to collect scrap metal through dumpsters provided by Kanect Recycling and drop-offs at the Meadville Lincoln Recycling. You can help make wishes come true for local children facing critical illnesses by donating to our fundraising page today!
