This year, we are helping Make-A-Wish Colorado grant wishes for children who are facing critical illnesses. Our team's gifts will help make wishes possible for kids like 11-year-old Cecilia whose wish is to go to Disney World!
In December of 2019, Cecilia went to the ER after her family noticed she had excessive bruising. Doctors discovered Cecilia had concerningly low platelet and hemoglobin counts, which were caused by severe aplastic anemia bone marrow failure. After her diagnosis, Cecilia began receiving weekly infusions to keep her blood levels normal, underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment and was taking over 20 pills a day. Although Cecilia's family estimates she's had to go to the hospital a total of 200 times in the past two years, they say she has never once felt sorry for herself and has kept her spirits high the whole time. Despite the challenges of her diagnosis, Cecilia still finds immense joy in things like making new friends and going on daddy-daughter dates after her appointments.
Cecilia is just one example of the 400+ kids in Colorado who are currently waiting to receive their wish. Our team's contributions will bring renewed hope, uplifted spirits and a belief in the impossible for each of these incredible children.
