In honor of the incredible work of Dr. Alex Benson and the St. Anthony Hospital ICU Team, we have granted the wish of a girl named Piper; a 5-year-old whose wish is to go to Disneyland to meet Cinderella.
Piper was diagnosed with cancer last October after nightly arm pain progressed into a complete loss of arm function. Over the past year, Piper has undergone radiation and bi-weekly chemotherapy. While Piper is still battling treatment side effects and working to regain arm function, she is also thrilled to have started kindergarten this fall and loves to play with her dog, Ralph, and go to the park with her family.
Throughout Piper's journey, she has been buoyed by the hope created by her upcoming wish. Her exact words? "I'm one hundred million percent excited for my wish to happen!" Piper's family is also looking forward to the wish, saying it will be "a time away where they can lose themselves in family time together, things that bring happiness, and reflect on and celebrate the journey" that brought them to this point.
Piper is the perfect example of the life-changing power of a wish. This gift renews hope, uplifts spirits and encourages the belief in the impossible for kids facing critical illnesses across the state of Colorado.
Together, we can transform lives, one wish at a time. Thank you for joining us in granting wishes and honoring the amazing medical team at St. Anthony Hospital. The doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and all medical staff that saved Bill's life and gave us our very own second chance.
