Imagine for a moment that you’re going about your daily life and all of a sudden you drop to the floor. You’re paralyzed. In the stillness, you can see everything going on around you, but there’s nothing you can do except wait. Wait for the minutes, the hours and sometimes days until your body regains control.
That’s what life is like for three-year-old Carmel. Each and every day, Carmel waits for that moment. Sometimes it’s full paralysis while other times it’s only partial. Sometimes she has seizures and other times she has intense muscle cramping.
Living with an extremely rare, progressive genetic disorder, there is no treatment or cure for Carmel, but with Make-A-Wish, there is hope.
“It’s AMAZING how just hoping and getting excited for her wish, has been such a light for us during long hospital stays or in periods where she has experienced prolonged complete paralysis,” said Sophie, her mom. “Much of the time Carmel's medical needs prohibit us from being able to do things I know that she and her siblings would want to do. Being granted a wish is going to give Carmel an opportunity to spend a week in a place of her dreams, doing what she loves, and give her the opportunity to help her siblings make great and lasting incredibly special memories with her that aren't centered around medical necessity.”
Carmel wishes to go to a dude ranch and ride “horseys” in the mountains. Can you donate and help her get there?
Gifts made through this fundraising campaign are a gift to the entire Make-A-Wish mission. All gifts will be pooled to meet the needs of Make-A-Wish, including the featured wish and/or other wish granting activities.
