Last year, I took part in the Make-A-Wish Alabama Trailblaze Challenge. Basically, each trailblazer commits to raising $2500 for Make-A-Wish, and our reward is we get to hike 26.3 miles on the beautiful Pinhoti Trail in one unforgettable day. This experience was a transformative one for me. I was able to push myself physically as I prepared for the hike, and step out of my comfort zone to ask for supporters. Along the way, I met some wonderful friends and became part of a beautiful community of people who are generous and fun and supportive. And Make-A-Wish Alabama became the first chapter in the country to raise over $1,000,000 in a single Trailblaze season!!! Knowing I had a part in granting wishes to so many brave and sweet children who are facing illnesses is an amazing feeling!
This year, I have stepped up the challenge to become a Wish Hero. I have pledged to raise $5000 for wishes, and my reward is 2 amazing hikes for a total of 54.6 miles! This is a big goal for me, but I know it will be possible with the help of so many people who will join me in the effort to grant wishes. Will you be one of them? I hope so!!
