I'm fundraising with Make-A-Wish (in honor of Spencer) to help grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. It's truly amazing what wishes can do... give kids renewed energy and strength, bring families closer together and unite communities.
When Spencer's cancer relapsed for the second time, we left Rochester and began our hospice journey at home. Spencer had never gotten to take part in his Make-A-Wish due to ongoing treatments. But not this time! In a matter of days, Make-A-Wish organized his dream trip to Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios Orlando, Florida. As a bonus, his good friend, Emily Swallow, helped arrange for Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano) to surprise Spencer at Savi's Workshop (inside Galaxy's Edge). This dream day for Spencer brought immense joy and renewed energy. And the entire trip gave our family the opportunity to make lifelong memories with our sweet Spencer.
Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. They wish to have a bicycle, be a superhero, go snorkeling, give their school baseball team new uniforms, go to Disney World, and push all the buttons in a tall building's elevator.
