In utero, Morgan was diagnosed with VACTERL association, having esophageal atresia, hemivertebrae, and multiple congenital heart defects. And while his condition appeared treatable, it became more complex than anticipated soon after he was born. After overcoming so many challenges in his short time here on earth, our beautiful boy passed away on September 15, 2021.
One of my favorite memories during our time together was at his bedside - after he was listed as a heart transplant candidate and we learned he would be eligible for a wish - daydreaming about what his wish would be when he would finally get his perfect heart and come home.
If you asked my husband, Mo would have wanted to go on a hunting excursion out west with Luke Bryan.
I disagreed. He would totally want to fly to California to spend the weekend with Harry and Meghan.
I vividly remember giggling with his nurse as we mapped out these elaborate wishes. Our imagination busted us out of the hospital and into Wish World, where there were no ventilators or devastating lab results. Where our family would be making the best memories and Morgan would be having the time of his life.
