We were personally touched by Make-A-Wish last year as we journeyed through my daughter's brain tumor diagnosis. Surgeries, weekly chemotherapy visits, and countless visits to the hospital can steal a lot of joy from your life. But Make-A-Wish was there to support Ava and our family. They encouraged us and gave us something tangible to look forward to in a very uncertain season of life. Ava wished to go to Disney World. Make-A-Wish did everything humanly possible to make that the best trip we will ever take! For that we are so grateful to them. But it hasn’t stopped there – they have connected us to other Wish Families and to University of Louisville’s Chi Omega sorority (whose philanthropy efforts benefit Make-A-Wish). They poured into Ava in such a sweet and beautiful way.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
These life-changing wishes are only possible because of supporters like us. A wish experience can truly change a child’s life, and so can we.
