Aloha! My name is Shania and this is my beloved brother, Anthony James (AJ). At the age of 10 years old, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that turned out to be malignant. He fought a long and hard battle of surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation for 3 years. At the end of 2006, my parents received devastating news that he only has a couple months left to live. Soon after, we were contacted by Make-A-Wish. Two volunteers were sent over to our house to interview AJ. His wish was to meet LeBron James and watch one of his basketball games. At the ending of January 2007, we were off to Cleveland. Make-A-Wish had everything booked and planned for us. We got to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers warm up before their game, AJ had an unlimited shopping spree with LeBron James at the Cavaliers gift shop, then we got to watch the game from the sky box. However, it didn't stop there. They had a second wish planned for him. We got to go snowboarding for the first time! AJ got to see the snow for the first time. We had a blast. A couple months later, March 26, 2007, the inevitable happened and AJ passed away. I am eternally grateful to Make-A-Wish for making my brothers wishes come true and for giving my family & I the best memories with him. Since he passed so young, we didnt have as many good memories together but these are ones that I will cherish forever. In memory of my big brother, I chose to start a team for this years Walk for Wishes in Southern Nevada. All the proceeds will be donated directly to Make-A-Wish to fund wishes for kids just like my brother. Let's create memories that they and their families can cherish forever!
