In 2000, The Make-A-Wish Foundation visited me at St. Louis Children's Hospital and offered me a wish - ANYTHING I WANTED! I could go on a trip, meet someone famous, pick out a gift - any gift - or choose from anything else I could dream up.
After my diagnosis with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March of 1999, a year of chemo under my belt, and two years of treatment still to go, nothing could dull my spirits amidst the magic of possibility granted to me by Make-A-Wish.
Bestowing over 15,000 wishes annually, Make-A-Wish brings a sigh of relief and a pause for excitement to children with critical illnesses and their families during a time of unknowing and distress.
I hope to raise funds to help keep the magic alive and am thrilled to Walk for Wishes on April 8th as captain of Team Caleres!
