Diagnosed with epilepsy and Doose Syndrome at age two, five-year-old Braylie from Huntsville, Missouri has always wanted to meet Minnie Mouse. Braylie had no idea of what was in store for her when she told Make-A-Wish® Missouri what she wanted to wish for. “The wish was a dream come true right from the start,” said Kalee, Braylie’s mom. Braylie had never flown on an airplane and never even been on a family vacation because of her illness. “The 7-day vacation was the longest consecutive time we have spent all together as a family,” remarked Braylie’s mom.
Along with her mother, father and three siblings, Braylie stayed in a magical place called Give Kids The World Village® where they had a two-bedroom house all to themselves. Braylie was treated like royalty everywhere she went. “This place was magically magnificent. There was ice cream for breakfast, horse back riding, a water park, lunch with Disney characters, different themed parties every night and so much more,” said Kalee.
The magic did not stop there. Braylie received a Make-A-Wish® button which had a magic of its own. The family was ushered to the front of every line, characters throughout the park made an extra effort to stop, talk to and hug the family, and pictures were taken as the family made its way around the park. “Memories and pictures are the ultimate gift to me,” remarked Braylie’s mother. “We will always have these reminders of this magical time. A time when there were no worries about medications, doctors appointments or just how to juggle everything while trying to be good parents to four children.”
The memories mounted as Braylie and her three sibling got to meet Santa and received presents at “Village Winter Wonderland” night at Give Kids The World. She also got to experience her first theme park and favorite ride, Kali River Rapids. One of Braylie’s favorite parts was getting to do the Mickey Mouse hotdog dance with Goofy. “We are so grateful and feel so blessed to have been given this gift to make her dream come true,” remarked Braylie's mother.
