I support Make-A-Wish because I have seen first hand the power of a Wish! 20 years ago my best friend was undergoing chemo. The opportunity to attend sporting events and even get behind-the-scenes access to Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden (grown up patient, grown up wishes!) really cheered him up and took his mind off his treatment. And three years ago, I coached a child on our basketball team who had just been declared cancer free, and was himself a Make-A-Wish recipient. His family said their Wish was a chance to celebrate his journey of healing and re-charged them all, not just their child.
This year, I am asking the St Louis Trading Desk to join me in funding 1/2 a wish, with a goal of $5,000! Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year. That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. These life-changing wishes are only possible because of supporters like us. A wish experience can truly change a child’s life, and so can we.
