Every great movement has humble beginnings, and Make-A-Wish's started with a single wish on April 29, 1980. Seven-year-old Chris, struggling with leukemia, had a heartfelt wish: to be a police officer for a day. Six people answered the call, rallying the entire community to grant Chris's wish. The impact was profound, lifting Chris during his darkest days and inspiring those around him. These original WishMakers vowed to do more, and thus, a global movement was born.
Every April 29th, we commemorate our origin and humble beginnings on what we know as World Wish Day. In honor of Chris’s legacy and the thousands of wishes granted since, Chi Omega is hosting a Walk-For-Wishes event on campus in honor of Chris. Our fundraising goal this year is: $2900 in honor of Chris's wish granted on April 29.
