No Problem Gavin
We believe in the power of HOPE.
We learned first hand in helping to support our own family during a life-changing medical struggle. In January 2018, our son, Gavin, age 9, developed what was originally diagnosed as a stye in his right eye. Over the next few weeks, various doctors and specialists finally identified the large mass/tumor growing behind his right eye as a rare and fairly aggressive ‘soft-tissue’ cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. For the rest of that year, Gavin went through an aggressive treatment plan including multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation.
In the midst of this chaos and fear, Make-a-Wish entered and introduced a lifeline of hope. Something to look forward to- for all of us. What came next was a serious of ideation and creativity sessions to find the heart of his true wish. A space to call his own to rest and recover and play without prying eyes on him at all time. Gavin's wish for a clubhouse remains an active part of his life, from a cool space to hang out in with his friends, to a private location for remote schooling, or simply a quiet haven to escape to.
Now that Gavin is in recovery, it is our desire to be able to pay it forward and help another sick child in the Hudson Valley to fulfil their own wish. Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children with critical illnesses right here in our community. We're humbled to support their work and pay it forward for the next family in need.
Please consider joining our team or make a contribution to support us along the way.
Walk With Us. Wish With Us. Create Hope with us. Together.
