We are thrilled to take on this year’s Trailblaze Challenge. In addition to the physical challenge, we have committed ourselves to raising the essential funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. 

                 Meet Lizzie, a brave young girl and Make-A-Wish recipient!

We'd like to introduce you to Lizzie, a remarkable young girl who has been through more medical issues than most adults. Lizzie was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot and has a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) which is a hole in the heart, a heart condition that required surgery to prevent her oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from mixing, which can lead to oxygen deficiency in the body. It's unfair when children can't just enjoy their childhood and live without worrying about their health. Due to her critical illness, Lizzie was granted a wish through Make-A-Wish Foundation. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western NC and the kindness of donors like you, Lizzie's wish was granted, and she got to make her own special wish and feel in control of making a very important decision - what to wish for!  She ultimately decided to visit Give Kids The World in Florida, explore the parks, and go to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique.

Wish kids are some of the most resilient and sweetest kids you'll ever know. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.  Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. A lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of eligible kids, and now more than ever every child needs something positive to look forward to. We’re fundraising so more deserving kids and their families may know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
