I am excited to take on the Trailblaze Challenge once again this year! Last year I did the Coastal section of the Palmetto Trail which stretches from the mountains through the Midlands to the coast. I thought 23.7 miles of flat trail would be easy-WRONG! The constant and repetitive motion of my leg muscles was hard and at some points painful. It was a good reminder of what these children face every day- the constant repetitive step by step of fighting and living with often painful critical illness. My trial was just for a day, while these children face it every day.
I have always enjoyed hiking, and just by doing something I love to do, I can make a difference in the life of another. This is the second year of the Palmetto Trail Trailblaze Challenge, and I decided to take it up a notch. I will be doing the Mountains section of the hike which will start at Sassafras Mountain. I have committed myself to raising the critical funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to grant the one true wish for each eligible child with a critical illness. With your help and support, it’s possible.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief, and renewal a wish can bring.
