Volunteers provide support in a number of ways, from topping off water, providing snacks, sharing smiles, and checking in/out all hikers to be sure all off trail. Red Shirts are Wilderness First Aid Certified and are placed throughout our line of hikers to provide additional support of first aid if needed and keep an eye on our Trailblazers. Those who rear sweep also remove any directional 'breadcrumbs' so as a group we leave no trace.
I am getting ready to set out on the trails this season as a Red Shirt, a MEDRAISER, attending training hikes and the actual Challenges as support. But not only will I be supporting in that capacity, I will also be helping to fundraise, to help our Trailblazers move the needle on providing more wishes.
- 94% of those wish alumni say that having their wish granted made them feel more joyful, confident, and hopeful for their future.
- 98% of medical providers said they have observed that the wish experience helps relieve families from traumatic stress related to their child's critical illness.
Make-A-Wish has granted more than 550,000 wishes around the world. That’s a lot, yes. But right now, for every wish that comes true, two more children with critical illnesses are waiting for theirs to be granted because Make-A-Wish lacks the necessary funding.
Please consider a donation and together let's bring joy, hope, and transform a child's life. We have the power to grant it!
