2024 Trailblaze Challenge - San Diego, CA

Trail Daisies

The best views come after the hardest climb.

Aisy and I are thrilled to take on this year’s Trailblaze Challenge. In addition to the physical challenge, we have committed ourselves to raising the essential funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. With your help, proving hope and joy during these uncertain times is possible.

Sarah first encountered the experience of a child being diagnosed with a serious illness with a student at school where I was the principal.  Julia was 5, a Kindergartner, and received a life threatening diagnosis.  Through countless treatments and trips across the country, Julia's indomitable spirit shined bright.  I remember tutus and boots and all manner of stylish accessories.   Make-A-Wish granted her wish to see castles in Scotland and Ireland in 2019.  What a magical trip that was for her!  Thankfully, Julia continues to be in full remission today.

Aisy got connected with Make-A-Wish when she started working at Rady Children’s Hospital in 2021 as a medical social worker. Part of Aisy’s role as a medical social worker is offering support and resources to patient and families experiencing critical illnesses. Aisy has been apart of referring several patients to make a wish and has seen first hand the impact make a wish has on patients.

Wish kids are some of the most resilient and sweetest kids you'll ever know. The one true vision of a wish may vary from trip to a pickle factory, become a superhero, give their baseball team new uniforms, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator.  Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.

Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. A lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of eligible kids, and now more than ever every child needs something positive to look forward to. We’re fundraising so more deserving kids and their families may know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.

Please help us support this impactful mission by joining us on the trail or helping us hit our Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal.  Thank you for your support!
