One of my colleagues presented the opportunity to hike to raise money for this amazing fundraiser. Even though I never hiked other than walking on the beach for a couple of miles, I thought it sounded like a great idea – hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail in Big Bear, train for a few months and meet and mingle with like-minded people - all for a good cause. Then I realized that it was 28 MILES in ONE DAY! I had already signed up so I knew that I could not back out.
So, each time I start to doubt myself, the hike leaders share a story of lives that have been touched by the wishes fulfilled and I get choked up and train on. It is a great cause with amazing people running the event, and even though this is one of the toughest physical fetes I have encountered, I realize that the kids we hike for would trade places with us in a heartbeat to be able to even attempt it. I am hoping that we can make a few lives and the lives of their families a little happier and I appreciate your support in my attempt at 28 miles to raise funds to make their wishes come true!
