This will be my third year hiking to raise money for critically ill, perhaps terminally ill, children for whom making a WISH come true may mean the difference between understanding hope and truly feeling it!!
The Trailblaze Challenge involves hiking 28 miles in one day on the beautiful Pacific Crest Trail in California. The Challengers - there may be as many as 300 of us - will train for several months (we started in early February and I have hiked nearly 200 miles now in training) and then tackle the challenge itself, selecting one of 3 available hike days.
This year I am actually hiking three times - 28 miles in a day each time - and am excited to offer my love of hiking in service to raising money for such a wonderful organization. For each hike I need to raise at least $2500; I myself have donated enough to cover one hike, and my employer has graciously matched my donation, which leaves $2500 (or more) to be raised and I am hoping that you will be willing to donate. I have already raised nearly $600 towards the third hike and so on the downhill towards providing joy to a child (and a family) in need.
No amount is too small...or too big! :) Here are some suggested amounts:
$28 = $1/mile for 1 hike
$56 = $1/mile for 2 hikes
$84 = $1/mile for 3 hikes
$140 = $5/mile for 1 hike
$280 = $10/mile for 1 hike
Raising money for this cause is a powerful statement of support for the children who are suffering and a heartfelt statement of solidarity with the parents who stay by their side throughout years of treatment, pain, and uncertainty.
Join me in Making a Wish in May!!!
