I am doing it again for my third year! Back for more miles, more smiles, and more wishes. I am back training for my 28-mile hike in one day on the Pacific Crest Trail in the Angeles National Forest on May 4th. In addition to the physical challenge (which I now know I can do with some training), I have committed to raising the critical funds to grant the one true wish for each eligible Make-A-Wish child with a critical illness. With your help, I can get there.
Why am I doing this? My daughter Ella had a rough start, having a stroke on the first day of her life. She had to endure months of testing, medication, probing and poking, MRIs, and therapy. She pulled through and developed into the loving, spunky, hilarious, and sweet person she is today. She got lucky. But not every child gets that lucky. I got a glimpse of what these kids and their families have to go through when doctor appointments, diagnosis, therapy, and constant re-adjusting rule your life and prevent you from living it.
A wish can pull them out of that rut, inspire hope, and spark the belief that anything is possible. It can give these children and their families the strength to fight harder against their illness.
Did you know that every hour of every day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness? Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them light and help them heal. I am hiking and fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief, and renewal a wish can bring.
So please help me reach my goal of $5,000, which will cover half of a wish (the average cost is about $10,000!). Please donate today. Thank you for being in my corner and supporting me!
