I joined the Trailblaze Challenge last year as a way to give back to my community. As a bonus I discovered an active group of like-minded hikers and numerous trails throughout San Diego. Unfortunately due to COVID, the Trailblaze Challenge was canceled last year and all fundraising quickly came to a stop. While their biggest fundraiser of the year was halted, Make-A-Wish continued to find creative ways of granting wishes; like a puppy to keep a child company during quarantine or a camper to take on dirt bike excursions.
With safety measures in place, the Trailblaze Challenge will resume this year. I have already begun training for the 28 mile hike, which will occur on the first weekend in June. In addition to the physical challenge of hiking 28 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in one day, I have committed to raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help realize the dreams of children with critical illnesses. Currently, the thousands of unique wishes that are granted each year only account for 50% of eligible children. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring. Make-A-Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest children you'll ever know. They wish to work in a pickle factory, become a superhero, go snorkeling, give their baseball team new uniforms, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.
If you donated last year, thank you! Your money has been rolled over and included in my total above. However, since this is a new year, I ask that you consider donating again. All proceeds go directly to Make-A-Wish and with the pandemic, even more kids are awaiting their wishes. Please help me support this great cause by helping me hit my Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal. Thank you for your continued support!
