My husband and teammate Matt McRee was diagnosed with rectal cancer a little over two years ago. We were incredibly fortunate to have good doctors, good insurance, and the best family and friends supporting us through that trying time, and now Matt is nearly ONE YEAR cancer free! I am so proud of him and his resilience, tenacity, and sense of humor through it all. Now that we are out of the woods on our own personal medical saga, we wanted to find a way to pay our good fortune forward, which is how we found the Trail Blaze Challenge through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
This challenge will have us hiking 27 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in ONE day! This is not only an extremely ambitious goal physically, but we have also formed a team and are committed to raising $12,500 for the San Diego chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While Make-A-Wish grants thousands of wishes to critically ill children each year, more than half of eligible wishes go unfulfilled. After the challenging couple of years we’ve had, we are extra motivated to do what we can to fill that funding gap and give these remarkable kids something to look forward to. All donations are tax-deductible, and all money raised goes towards granting wishes in our own Southern California community.
Will you help me support Make-A-Wish by donating today?
