To my friends, family and Colleagues who have previously generously supported me in the Make-a-Wish Trailblaze Challenge:
The past few years have taken their toll on all of us, especially those of my generation. With restrictions on gatherings and riding together in cars, my ability to train for the Trailblaze Challenge was significantly affected, and I was devastated to disappoint myself and supporters when I did not finish the whole trail (21/28 miles) last year. It brought me little consolation to hear that a few younger and fitter participants also did not finish due to the unbearable heat. For those of you who know me, I am stubborn and rarely give up on a challenge. That is why I am writing to you today, as I am ready to challenge myself again. This time, I am being a little more sensible, taking into consideration what seems to be my rapidly advancing age (84+), and the advice of my well-meaning daughter, so I will only be attempting a portion of the route, at least 14 miles, which is still a considerable challenge at the elevation of 8,000 ft.+, and for my age and physical status.
I am asking you in all humility to support me again “one Last time” and be thankful as I am that I am in good enough health to take this on again.
I have already contributed the required amount to participiate. Your contributions will go to benefit children with critical illnesses, to fulfill a beautiful wish for them.
Thank you in advance for your generous contributions and your unwavering support. Donations can be made online or by mail. Checks can be mailed to the Make-A-Wish office at 4995 Murphy Canyon Road, Suite 402, San Diego, CA 92123.
