I am excited to take on the Trailblaze Challenge for the fifth year in a row! In addition to the physical challenge of hiking 28 miles in one day, I have committed to raising funds to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
I recently celebrated my 20th year on staff at Make-A-Wish (it’s the first, and only place I’ve ever worked!) I was initially drawn to the organization because I love working with children. The reason I’ve stayed for so long is that I get to be part of this incredible mission every day, alongside the most wonderful people. I get to see our community at their best- coming together to create joy for a child dealing with illness.
Did you know the idea that we only grant last wishes is a misconception? The majority of our kids go on to live long after their wish is granted, and many consider their wish experience to be a positive turning point in their medical journey. Medical professionals often say that a wish is a necessary element in a child’s treatment, and that it goes hand in hand with the medicine.
A wish creates hope, and hope is an essential part of fighting a critical illness. I believe in the power of a wish with all my heart and hope you’ll join me in raising funds to support the organization that has become my life’s passion.
Together, we can make the world a little brighter… one wish at a time.
