Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
My son's close friend's five-year-old daughter, Evelyn, was diagnosed with Wilm's tumor a week before Christmas in 2020. Her wish was to play the iconic role of Clara in the Nutcracker ballet. The Make-A-Wish Foundation helped make that happen in December 2021. When my son told me the story about going to the ballet and seeing Evelyn on the stage with a big smile, I had a mixture of emotions. I was filled with joy for Evelyn and her family at being able to be in the ballet, but also filled with sadness when thinking about the ordeal they had all been through. Evelyn is doing well now. Her cancer is in remission and her fulfilled wish provided her and her family with some memorable joy. You can see Evelyn in the ballet by clicking on this link:
