For thirty years I have been an avid cyclist and in 1999, I started putting my passion to good use to raise money for the children of Make-A-Wish. For over twenty years, I have ridden this 300-mile charity ride, but things changed on my last ride in 2022 when a car swerved into our bike path and struck my team resulting in two of my friends losing their lives and me with injuries serious enough to prevent me from riding again.
The question for me was not 'Why me?' but instead, ‘What now?’. I could easily be the victim and throw in the towel from my cycling and running days as my circumstances have changed. Deep down, however, I know my will to help those in need has not.
Today, I am excited to share that I will continue to help grant wishes for the children of Make-A-Wish by participating in the Trailblaze Challenge later this month which consists of hiking 22 miles in one day in Pinkney, Michigan.
With your financial help, I will hike for the children of Make-A-Wish, my late friends Mike and Ed, and to empower those who wonder how they can move forward after enduring tragedy and loss.
Wishes are only possible because of supporters like you. A wish can truly transform a child's life, and we have the power to grant it. I ask that you please help me by supporting my first charity hike.
Thank you for your consideration and forever grateful for your donation.
