Several years ago I made the decision to make a change in my professional focus, and completed a fellowship in Palliative Medicine. Spending my days working with people who live with serious illness is hard but rewarding, and I am grateful for all I have learned about how to support patients and families through incredibly difficult circumstances. Through this, I have seen firsthand how transformative it is to have magical things happen in our lives...bringing joy and hope during times of hardship can make a huge difference.
This is exactly what Make A Wish is all about, and I am excited to take on this year's Trailblaze Challenge to help create a little more magic in the world for these incredible kids. In addition to the physical challenge, I have committed myself to raising the funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to grant the one true wish for each eligible child with a critical illness. But right now, for every wish that comes true, two more children with critical illnesses are waiting for theirs to be granted because Make-A-Wish lacks the necessary funding.
