Hello everyone! My name is Andrew Igo, and I am thrilled to participate in my third Trailblaze Challenge with Make-A-Wish. The Trailblaze Challenge is a multi-month training and fundraising program that culminates in an 18-mile, single-day hike at Shenandoah National Park. Make-A-Wishes' mission is incredibly close to my heart, and I would like to share my story with you.
At the age of 13, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone and soft tissue cancer. It all began in my right tibia and quickly spread to various parts of my body. The following six months were filled with an intense chemotherapy schedule, followed by a year of radiation therapy. It was during this challenging time that I was granted a Wish, an experience that forever changed my perspective.
Over thirteen years have passed since my initial diagnosis, yet the impact of the incredible support I received from friends, family, and Make-A-Wish remains etched in my memory. I will forever be grateful for the kindness and love shown to me and my family during that challenging time.
Make-A-Wish and the Trailblaze Challenge allow me to pay forward the same love and kindness that was bestowed upon me, so this year, I humbly ask for your support in fundraising to help deliver life-altering wishes to children with critical illnesses.
So, walk with me on this journey to raise much-needed funds to grant the wishes of over 160 children currently waiting across Virginia!
