I am ecstatic to again tackle the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge. Last year, I was part of Make-A-Wish Los Angeles's inaugural Trailblaze Challenge. In the three months leading up to the event, I logged nearly 200 miles during training hikes, where each weekly group training hike marked the longest hike I'd EVER done. Along with 64 other hikers, I trekked 28 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, spending a grueling 14 hours slogging through hail, sleet, rain, blazing sun, and freezing wind.
As meaningful as this experience was for me personally, it was what we Trailblazers accomplished collectively that was most moving. Together, we raised over $238,000, enabling Make-A-Wish to grant wishes for 24 children with critical illnesses. Having met with children and families that have been granted wishes, I can tell you that these wishes are life changing. Often, people mistakenly think wishes are granted only for children suffering terminal illnesses, but in fact, the majority of Wish Kids live into adulthood. A 2015 study found that wishes not only increased hope, they also improved the children's physical and emotional health. With each dollar we raise, and each wish granted, we make a positive difference is the lives of others.
Thank you for your support!
