The Cheese Heads
In 2021 we received a life changing call that no parent wishes to receive. Our son Maxx was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Through the diagnosis we spent weeks in the hospital so our son could receive life saving chemotherapy, surgeries, and blood transfusions. During this difficult time while most 10 year old boys are playing with friends and going to school, Maxx had to be in the hospital unable to do the things he loved. Maxx showed true strength and courage during this time, he showed us how strong he truly is.
One of the exciting things that helped Maxx get through this time was planning his Make-A-Wish trip. Maxx is a cheese lover and had always wanted to go to Wisconsin for vacation. We had never as a family been able to afford or think we would ever be able to go and give Maxx the trip he had been hoping for. Through Make-A-Wish Maxx was able to plan his dream trip. While it was an unusual trip compared to most, it was certainly memorable.
Once the trip was over we felt a sense of love and community from Make-A-Wish. Through this experience we decided to help do our part to ensure more kids get the Make-A-Wish experience Maxx received. This involved donations and fundraising. The Trailblaze challenge is a one day 28 mile hike in October. While we are training for this hike there is fundraising involved in order to participate. These funds go directly to Make-A-Wish to sponsor more trips like Maxx's for kids who need a life changing experience and something to look forward to.
Please help us reach our collective goal of $5,000.
