Driven Dreamers
It is hard to believe that it has been almost 5 years since Elliott was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma! In the years since his last treatment he has remained in complete remission and has thrived physically, mentally and spiritually- praise God! We will be forever grateful for the excellent medical care he received, the love and support showered on us by friends and family, and the assistance and gifts given to us by some amazing organizations.
Make-A-Wish was one of those organizations that had such a big impact on Elliott! Not only did he get to experience the joy, excitement and anticipation of planning his wish and having it granted in ways beyond his wildest dreams, but he has also been able to see how wishes have impacted kids with even bigger challenges than he had. He has such a desire to help other kids get to enjoy all the benefits of what only Make-A-Wish can make happen.
With this in mind, our entire family decided to take on the Trailblaze Challenge two years ago. Not only was it a challenge to raise the money for all of us to be a part of it, but it was also very physically challenging especially for the two of us that were over 50 and overweight. Thanks in part to their wonderful "trail dad", Kurt, both kids were able to complete the entire 28.3 mile hike and John and I managed 16 miles. Last year we had to settle for volunteering and Elliott gave the pre-hike encouraging talk. By the end of the weekend, we all knew we wanted to do the hike again this year.
So, once again, our entire family is taking on the Trailblaze Challenge! John and I have both managed to lose over 100lbs each so we are both confident we can physically manage the whole hike this year. Regan is getting ready to head off for college and wants one last crack at this hike, and Elliott wants to give as many kids as possible the chance to have a wish granted! In addition to the physical challenge, we have committed ourselves to raising the essential funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses.
Please help us support this impactful mission by joining us on the trail or helping us hit our Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal. Thank you for your support!
*Gifts made through this fundraising campaign are a gift to the entire Make-A-Wish mission. The needs shown are symbolic of the common wish elements associated with each wish and are only representative of our many wish-granting activities. Gifts made will not actually be used to purchase the item or grant the wish described. All gifts will be pooled to meet the needs of Make-A-Wish.
