Trailblaze Challenge Spring 2023 - Cashiers, NC: Eric Rifkin

In May, Jennifer and I will be participating in the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge: a 28.3 mile hike on the Foothills Trail. We do this in order to fundraise for children who are critically ill; and our efforts will contribute to making a child's special wish come true. The granting of a wish for a critically ill child is a beautiful compliment to medical care: the wish improves wellbeing and provides an uplifting of the spirit. Further, the anticipation of the special event coupled with its endearing memory provide a well of strength and will to draw upon. Jennifer and I will be strengthening our resolve as we commit our time to fundraise and train for the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge.

A single wish costs Make-A-Wish $7,500 on average to fulfill; our goal is to grant at least one wish.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE #1, 1/27/2023: due to the overwhelming positive feedback and generous responses, Jennifer and I have set our NEW fundraising goal...the granting of at least two wishes, as our minimum.

TRAINING UPDATE #1, 2/4/2023-2/5/2023: on a cold weekend in the Pisgah National Forest, Jennifer and I completed 17.5 miles and over 3700 feet of elevation gain for our first training sessions!

Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids.
