This October I will be participating in a 28.3 Mile hike in one day, to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation Central/Western North Carolina Chapter.
Why have I chose to do this?
My father tackled this challenge 10 years ago when my mother was battling cancer. I learned a lot about getting out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself. I feel like this fundraiser is the perfect way to do that, while also raising funds to help grant our local children the wishes they need and deserve.
How will this fundraiser work?
Along with tackling the 28.3 miles, I need to raise a minimum of $2,500. This money will go directly to granting wishes for children currently awaiting theirs. Also, the money that you would be donating does not leave this chapters boundaries. It will impact the children right here in our area. Children with different cancers, sicknesses, and challenges. Our local Make-A-wish grants over 400 wishes a year with fundraisers just like this one. It has been studied and proven to contribute to healing these children. A child that gets their wish could get a jumpstart in confidence, physical and emotional strength to continue their fight. It can be their turning point.
My Sister, Amy Thompson will also be tackling this hike with me and has a fundraising goal of her own. Please consider donating to this amazing fundraiser. Let’s blow this goal of $2,500 out of the water and get these kids their wishes!
