Team Walden Warriors Accepts the Challenge!
Hi! We are Team Walden Warriors! We are a brother and sister team and we are thrilled to take on this year's Trailblaze Challenge - a 26.3-mile journey along the Pinhoti Trail in the Talladega National Forest. We began 12 weeks of training in January, with the hike scheduled for April.
Why are we doing this?
Laurel: I did my first TBC last year. I had never been on a hike before. It was the hardest thing I've ever done and the most rewarding! I couldn't wait to do it again...and the best part is, I got my amazing "twin" brother and best friend to join me!
Wendell: I don't usually look to do things outside of my comfort zone. But, after my "twin" sister completed this challenge last year, and hearing how much it changed her and helped her grow, I'm all in! I'm looking forward to the work and helping a great cause.
In addition to the physical challenge of the hike along the trail, we have committed to raising the critical funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to grant the one true wish for each eligible child with a critical illness. With your help, it’s possible.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. We're fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
These essential wishes are only possible because of supporters like you. Together, we are transforming lives- One wish at a time!
We would love to have your encouragement and support as we train for the hike, and also during the hike. Would you also support Make-A-Wish by donating today? Thank you so much for being part of our journey!
*Gifts made through this fundraising campaign are a gift to the entire Make-A-Wish mission. The needs shown are symbolic of the common wish elements associated with each wish and are only representative of our many wish-granting activities. Gifts made will not actually be used to purchase the item or grant the wish described. All gifts will be pooled to meet the needs of Make-A-Wish.
