2022 Trailblaze Challenge

The Jaywalkers

Wishes CAN come true!

In 2023 we will be stepping into our most exciting journey yet: a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail! All 2,190 miles from Georgia to Maine. *gulp* Our friends have lovingly asked us, "So, how are you guys going to train for it?!" So far, we have responded with a hearty laugh... wondering the same thing ourselves!

A few weeks ago, we learned of an information session on the Make-a-Wish Alabama's Trailblaze Challenge. You may not know…over the years Brent and I have spent portions of our personal and professional lives dedicated to the mental and physical wellbeing of children. Often including impassioned advocacy. So naturally we wanted to hear more about anything that helped kids without a head-long fight. AND a way that mixed in hiking?! Yes, please!

Like everyone, we had heard of Make-a-Wish before; however, we were unaware of this immersive fundraiser until now. This challenge is a commitment to 3 months of hiking training, increasing mileage at each outing, culminating in a 26.3 mile hike. As we sat through the information session we realized that we were being handed the perfect way to step into training for our great adventure....by helping kids get their great adventure!!
How awesome is that?!

SO...

We are thrilled to take on this year’s Trailblaze Challenge! In addition to the physical challenge, we have committed to raising $5,000 between the two of us - essential funds necessary for Make-A-Wish to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses (although, we won't be upset if we can raise more for the kids).
With your help, we can prove that hope and joy are possible during these uncertain times!

We know that all money right now is hard-earned and we can't overstate how much any contribution to the kids helps!

Wish kids are some of the most resilient and sweetest kids you'll ever know. The one true vision of a wish may vary from trip to a pickle factory, become a superhero, give their baseball team new uniforms, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.

Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. A lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of eligible kids, and now more than ever, every child needs something positive to look forward to. We’re fundraising so more deserving kids and their families may know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.

Please help us support this impactful mission by helping us hit our Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal.
You'll have the joy of helping the Make-a-Wish kids, and we'll carry your love with us on the AT in 2023.
Thank you for your support!
With gratitude,
Terri & Brent - The Jaywalkers
